Provenance

A company called George Marris & Co in Birmingham were busy making bedsteads and brass/ copper pots and pans back in the 1800’s. They diversified a little into the picnic hamper, camping stove market around1906 using the brand name ‘Sirram’ which is Marris spelt backwards.
Not sure how old our wee kettle set is, possibly as early as the 1930’s, but more likely 1950’s. There are lots of different models around and thousands of Sirram picnic hampers.
The Kettle Sets were often part of a hamper but could be bought separately. They would run on solid fuel or methylated spirits and the set we have here seems to be missing the spirit burner. We have a couple of Sirram Pods- Atmospheric Stoves elsewhere in the collection and suspect they came from sets like this.
