Provenance:
Don Whillans seems to have designed his Whammer for use on the 1970 Annapurna South Face Expedition, though in the words of expedition member, Ian Clough

“although everyone was issued with a Whillan’s Whammer, climbers tended to use their own”

He was referring to piton hammers / ice axes.

Although the Whammer had multiple uses; piton hammer, ice hammer, abseil device, beer bottle opener, plus several more, it was not a success and was consigned to the DIY department by many of those who owned one.

This particular one came from Troll who had produced the originals and is missing a wee bit at the bottom of the handle.
