Brief Description

Oiled jacket. Khaki green, zipped front. Drawstring hood with metal lined edge. Five snap fasteners down front. Chest pocket with two snap fasteners on left hand side. Two side pockets with snap fasteners. Blue lining.

Inside bottom left label reads "NEVISPORT FORT WILLIAM SCOTLAND" with picture of climber. On white label cleaning instructions.

Provenance

The early version of these fabulous jackets were made of black oiled cotton and were affectionately known as 'big blacks'. Nevisport introduced then into an embryonic market in the early 1970's well before the breathable materials such as Gore-tex were created. They were a bit bulky and heavy, but very good at keeping out the weather
