Black’s Anorak (replica)

Black’s orange cotton anorak. Drawstring hood, bottom and middle. The string is missing from the bottom. Zip at the neck. Two button tie pockets at bottom front(buttons missing) and one large velcro tying pocket in middle front. Two straps tied with a button inside the bottom back.

Looking very much like a Back’s anorak,(several of which you will find in the collection) we are calling this a replica as there are no markings to show if it is a Blacks or another make.
We know that the cotton material used for making Black’s anoraks was readily available in the 1960/70’s and folk aften made their own. Other companies made replicas too but didn’t put their own labels on for fear of patent laws. Indeed Balcks often warned potential customers to beware of cheap imposters.
So, a wee bit of a mystery but an interesting addition to the collection, even though it is a wee bit battered and worn.
