These Stubai New Model Ice Screws date from the early 1970's and were one of the many variations along the evolutionary ice screw road. Earlier versions were constructed from a complete 'tube' and as a result ice got stuck inside. These cut away versions were designed to address that problem as any accumulated ice fell out when the screw was removed. One of these would have cost you £2.69 in the early 1970's.
