Scotland
The Clan Tent Company began life in the 1970's in Greenock, Scotland, under the ownership of Dave Chalmers. Dave was fairly handy with a sewing machine and made lots of his own gear to sell alongside branded gear from the main outdoor gear manufacturers.
As the name of his company implies, tents were one of his main products, a fine example of which we have here in the collection.
Dave had supplied the Royal Marines with tents in the 1970's and founder of our collection, Mick Tighe, had used one as a Marine as can be seen in the picture opposite. Many years later when Dave closed his business and retired, he kindly donated the last one of his tents - an excellent piece of Scottish Mountain Heritage.
