Frailing
Austria
Stubai have been making things out of metal for a long time - blacksmiths from the area of Fulpmes in Austria, where they are based, had a sort of co-operative going as far back as the 17th Century and the Stubai Tooling Co-operative was formed in 1897. We're not sure about the word 'Frailing' on these crampons - could it be one of the blacksmith's co-operatives we wonder. Anyway, the Fulpmes bit indicates early Stubai, even if the company as such wasn't yet formed. As we inherited this pair from the Scottish Ski Club, we are not sure of the donor. We think they date from the 1930's or 40's.
