Karrimor
England
Mike Parsons was owner of Karrimor in the 1960’s, a time when Joe Brown was the rock climbing superstar of the era. Who better then to lend his name to one of Mike’s rucksacks - we wonder what the deal was?
Karrimor were ever innovative at the time, always on the lookout for new designs, talismen and materials.
KS 100 was one of their ‘revolutionary’ fabrics… lightweight, hardwearing and waterproof …allegedly!
The one we have here is pre KS100(which appeared in 1979) so an early version made with some kind of coated material that leaked like a sieve - back then most mountaineers lined this and just about every other sack with a polythene bag.
This particular one once belonged to Mountain Guide, Mick Tighe, and was given to him by Mike Parsons as part of a sponsorship deal that Karrimor had going with British Mountain Guides at the time.
