Provenance

Founder member of the Scottish Mountain Heritage Collection, Mick Tighe, is a British and International Mountain Guide and worked for many summers in the Central European Alps. It's common for alpinistes and mountain guides to use mountain huts as a base when climbing the high alpine peaks and Mick made a habit of taking a miniature bottle of whisky and a packet of shortbread to each hut as a wee present for the hut warden.
Having done this on one occasion in Switzerland, he noticed a load of old soup bowls being loaded onto a helicopter destined for the skip and having enquired what was happening the hut warden gave him this one as a souvenir - pity he didn't get the whole lot!
