Royal Marine Colour Sergeant, Willy Paterson, owned this rucksack back in the 1970's and gave it to fellow Marine Sgt.,Mick Tighe, when he retired. That's about all we know for sure as the wee label attached to it is too faded to read. We suspect it was one of a special batch made for the Ministry of Defence, or more likely the result of experiments by the Stores and Clothing Research and Development Establishment (SCRDE) who were pretty active on the Arctic equipment scene in the 1970's when the Royal Marines were training in Northern Norway. Check out the SCRDE mountain tent elsewhere in the collection.
