April 27-29th. Cycled to Arrocher where I met Creag Dhu lads. Slept at the Shelter Stone rock on Cobbler.
28th. Climbed Cobbler by Jug Handle route and Big Buttress route also Buttress on other peak of Cobbler.
29th. Cycled home by Crianlarich and Loch Earn, met Ernie Blyth at Comrie drum up.
These diary entries were made by George (Scottie ) Dwyer in 1935, and illustrate wonderfully the role bicycles played in mountaineering back in the old days. They are all the more remarkable when you note the distance from Dundee, where Scottie lived, to Arrochar - 95 miles! (150 Kilometeres) Unfortunately, we don't have Scottie's bike or his wee saddle bag, but this one comes from exactly the same era and once belonged to the Boyle family in Glen Roy.
