We don't know much about this lovely little gas stove, but guess it dates from the 1960's. Primus type parafin stoves had reigned supreme for nearly a century up to the 1960's when technology allowed for simple gas canisters to be produced, though they were fairly expensive and whilst much cleaner and quicker to light, gas was not as hot as parafin and didn't have the 'purr' of a Primus. The French firm Bleuet cornered the market with their characteristic Camping Gaz range and these British versions seemed to have had a fairly limited circulation. Mick Tighe bought this one for £10 on the internet in 2012.
Having just had a look at the Bleuet stove in our collection we can't help but notice a remarkable similarity to the British Ace.
