Provenance

Created in 1956 by Swiss inventor Joseph Borde, this little stove has become a bit of a celebrity over the years - one sold on e-Bay for £215 in March 2012.
Designed as a lightweight, bivouac stove, it is powered by petrol, is rather tricky to light and as a result earned the nickname "bivvybomb" Some did apparently come with a windshield but there is no pot-stand, the idea being to nestle it down among the boulders. Joseph Borde stopped making them in the 1960/70's and production seems to have transferred to a guy called Norbert Bader though rumour has it that he has now stopped producing them (2010)
This particular one once belonged to Richard Grieve, mountaineer and one time member of Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team. He kindly donated it to the SMHC in 2011 to become the smallest and rarest stove in our collection.
