These are not a set of trousers that you would normally use for mountaineering, unless the mountains were in a jungle, since they are a pair of OG's or Olive Greens which were used by the British Army out in Singapore/Malaya in the 1960's though they probably date back to World War II. Founder of the Scottish Mountain Heritage Collection, Mick Tighe, was a young Royal Marine back in 1969 and was posted to Singapore and issued with this pair of OG's which he wore 'up country' in Malaya on jungle patrols. Mick was having a clearout and while not strictly mountain heritage, he thought there was a little historical value. The fairly unique waist belt system is quite interesting.
We've added the OG shirt to the trousers as the pair constitute a suit or outfit (sorry no jungle boots.) Both have had their labels washed out but would almost certainly have been made by a UK based clothing manufacturer on a Governmnet contract.
