It's fairly unusual to find a pair of boots without a maker's name, but that seems to be the case with this fabulous pair , which leads us to believe that they are handmade; they certainly have that 'look' about them.
The lovely little brass, tricouni side nails are Swiss and the 'Phillips' heel plates would seem to be British so our best guess is that they are British (possibly Swiss) handmade in the 1950's, an era when ski boots were still used for uphill, cross country and downhill.
These would have been a very expensive pair of boots when new, and remarkably they are still in mint condition, looking as if they have hardly been used. Mick Tighe was very pleased to acquire them for £20 in 2013 and to add them to the collection.
