Provenance

Though a lot of them are reservists, the Swiss have one of the largest armies in Europe which, they say, has acted as a deterrent and kept them clear of various European wars. Their army also has some of the best made equipment, probably in the world, and we have a fabulous example here in the collection.
Dating from the 1940's this is a Swiss Army Patrol Sack, beautifully made from leather and animal hide. We found the real secret though, inside, as the previous owner, Willi Tobler, left his shooting record book and a couple of other documents inside, giving a lovely little cameo of the Swiss Army.
We have a smaller version of this sack elsewhere in the collection. Mick Tighe bought that one and this one in an ex-army store in Bern.
