Provenance

Born in Glasgow, but now based in Canada where he works as an orthopaedic surgeon, our good friend, John McCall, bought this piton for us from American book dealer, Michael Chessler. Here's what he has to say about the pitons he was selling in 2014.
"We have all five styles of pitons that the US Army issued. They are new and are only offered as collectibles. If you die using them, please sue the US Army not us"
We aren't going to use this one, just add it to our piton collection. We suspect it dates from the 1950's or 60's and Michael Chessler was selling them for $8.95 (around £6.00) each in 2014.
