Provenance

These mittens date from around 1970 and were part of the kit issued to Royal Marine Commandos training in North Norway at the time. Founder member of our heritage collection, Mick Tighe, was an instructor with the Mountain and Arctic Warfare Cadre at that time and used gloves very similar to these. Note the trigger finger- see opposite.
Much of this gear became redundant in the 1980's and was 'surveyed', thrown away or disposed of through ex-army stores - one way or the other this pair found their way into our collection.
