We've got lots of ice screws in the collection but this one is a bit special. We can't find a maker's name so suspect it is homemade or maybe some kind of prototype.
The style suggests it's a very early version whatever - circa 1960/65 when screws first began to appear, replacing the drive in, hack out ice piton, which you'll find elsewhere in the collection.
Mountain Guide, Dave (Smiler) Cuthbertson, kindly donated this screw to the collection, a pretty unusual and unique addition.
