Provenance

We are a little embarrassed about this little fella. He arrived in the post with the wrapping in a very poor state which meant we couldn't read the sender's address and as there was no note inside we've been unable to write and thank the sender. So thank you if you are out there reading this and please get in touch.
Anemometers measure windspeed and this particular type was designed, not for the mountains but for:
"obtaining the velocity of currents of air ducts, mines, flues of furnaces etc. by means of a windmill, the revolutions of which are indicated on a dial."
Not the sort of thing you would carry around in your rucksack, perhaps, though windspeeds are fairly crucial to mountaineers - there are pocket versions as well.
We'll slot this little gem into our 'antiques' section as it seems to date from the early 1900's - an excellent little curio to complement the collection.
