Provenance

Very few British climbers or mountaineers will have heard of a Bam Nut or Bam Hammer as it is sometimes called, whereas in America it's become a bit of a cult item much sought after by collectors and consequently selling for £100 or more in 2015.
This 'Rolls Royce nut tool' was developed by American company, Forrest Mountaineering, in the 1970's as a multi purpose tool which could be used as a cleaning tool, a hammer, a nut and a nut remover. The head is basically a hexagonal nut, typical of the era and made from aluminium alloy. It has a handle attached which is basically a nut key - an interesting, innovative and functional piece of kit.
Founder of our Heritage Collection, Mick Tighe, got a bit of a 'swap shop' going in 2013 with fellow collector of old gear, Art McCarthy, over in California and this piece of gear was part of the 'deal' ........thanks Art.
