"LOCHABER MOUNTAIN RESCUE FIELD KITCHEN"

Members of Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team
Scotland
Back in 1969 the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team came up with the idea of having an air bed race to raise funds for the team. For some reason or other, they didn't continue with the event though the neighbouring Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team did.
So once a year folk would risk life and limb by leaping into the River Nevis with an air bed to negotiate the course, hopefully without injury, in the fastest possible time, to raise funds for the rescue team.
A hot drink was order of the day on completion of the course and some of the Lochaber lads created this field kitchen for the competitors.
We've collected some of the contents separately, which can be found in related items, and what we have here is the box that contained everything along with the griddle for cooking on - both made by members of the team around 1971/72 - an excellent little cameo of days gone by.
