Provenance

CMI ( Colorado Mountain Industries) seems to have started life back in 1964 and is still going strong in 2014 though now relocated and under new ownership.
The nice little hexagon we have here in the collection seems to date from the early days (circa 1970) since the hexagon shape became redundant when American, Yvon Chouinard, invented the Hexcentric, an offset version of the hexagon which worked a lot better.
So, nice little piece of American climbing history which, rather appropriately, was donated by Art McCarthy in Caifornia.
