Seattle Manufacturing Corporation
USA
The Seattle Manufacturing Corporation was founded by Jim Clark back in 1967. High quality karabiners were Jim's initial product. Various other types of hardware and technical rescue equipment came along later.
The two little hexagons, plus wired wedge, are a little mix of that later gear which we think date from the late 1970's. Hexagonals were produced in the UK by companies such as Troll and Clog - Chouinard made them in the USA. It was Chouinard that came up with a variation in 1971 by juggling the angles a little to produce the Hexentric which was a lot more efficient. Unfortunately, it meant that Hexagonals such as the ones we have here quickly became redundant. Curiously, the SMC wedge on wire looks almost identical to a Chouinard stopper which you will find elsewhere in the collection.
