Richard Ponvert was a French boot designer who made his name by creating a thing called the 'Paraboot' which was an early (1920's) rubber soled boot and shoe. His company went on to design some of the finest mountaineering boots ever made, often in conjunction with other manufacturers, in this case Galibier.
This range of boots appeared in the 1970's with names such as Guide, Super Guide and Super Pro with a quality which complimented the names.
They were very rigid and difficult to wear in, but once that was done they would last forever, with the fairly unique Norwegian welt stitching allowing for multiple re-soling if required.
This pair were bought, used and ultimately donated by our friend, Shaw Murray, down in the Ochils.
