Provenance

A fabulous little glimpse into the past world of the Paraffin Camper here in the collection with this 1935 Primus 210 paraffin stove.
Having begun life way back in 1892, the Swedish company, Primus, went on to produce a vast array of stoves for a wide variety of uses, though the camping and outdoor market would seem to have been their biggest.
The 210 was a mid range, mid size stove designed for the keen camper and often came as a compact outfit in a special tin with all the relevant Primus accoutrements. Not sure how this one came when new, but it's been customised, by necessity no doubt, 1950/60's style with the addition of an adjustable spanner, the original having been lost presumably. A Dobies Mixture Tobacco (very Scottish) tin for small spares and the whole lot contained in an old sandwich tin - excellent.
We think it was donated by Donald Watt, one time leader of Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team
