Ardverikie Wall is a two hundred metre sweep of immaculate micro granite sitting above the beautifully scenic Lochan-na-h- Earba, in the Central Highlands of Scotland. For rock climbers it is one of the great, classic climbs of the country.
It was first climbed in June 1967 by Dougie Long and Graeme Hunter, pioneer climbers and stalwarts of the Scottish Mountaineering Club.
Graeme was resplendant in his new E B rock boots and now, 50 years later he has donated the boots to us, albeit rather more worn. The boots can be seen in the background of the 1967 picture opposite which was taken on the day of the first ascent.
You can find out more about EB’s elsewhere in the collection.
Meanwhile, thanks to Graeme for this pair.
