Provenance

Though sporting the Nevisport label, this jacket bears all the hallmarks of a company called Tulloch Mountaincraft (TMC). TMC made lots of clothing for various companies in the 1970’s and, as they were only 20 miles apart geographically, it seems logical that they made this simple cagoule.
Nevisport were based in Fort William in the Scottish Highlands and Tulloch was only 20 miles away. Another 50 miles east we come to the Cairngorms where the rescue team purchased several of these cagoules in the late 1970’s for use by the team members. They were pretty horrible, sweaty affairs which were difficult to get on and off.
The large, one size fits all approach didn’t suit quite small team memeber, Ann Wakeling, which is why she passed the cagoule on to us 40 years later, hardly used.
