Provenance

Hidden Peak is another name for Gasherbrum in the Himalayas and is one of several names borrowed by Stubai of Austria for use as names for their various ice climbing tools.
This particular axe dates from the 1970’s, a time when there were hundreds of different axes and hammers around, all vying for a place in the market. Though reknowned for their strength and durability, Stubai tools never really made it on the technical side, consequently this model only enjoyed a brief period of stardom. This particular one has a lovely homemade lanyard/ wrist loop, but unfortunately, we don’t know who made it or where the axe came from.
