Provenance

Not sure if there had been a fire or any resultant ashes, but Phoenix mountaineering seems to have ‘arisen’ from a place called Amble in Northumberland in 1979 with directors Alan Waugh, Ken Rawlinson and Pam Sandford. Phoenix were probably best known for their range of tents which had ‘Ph’ names suxch as Phreedome, Phortress, Phreeranger etc.
The company seems to have been taken over by Karrimor in 1993, though they may have kept the Phoenix trading name for a while after.
We are not sure under which regime Phoenix clothing was made but reckon this ski jacket is from the 1990’s so probably Karrimor/Phoenix.
It was bought by ardent Scottish skier, Edmond Mansion, who retired it in 2019 and passed it on to us - thanks Edmond.
