Outland Climbing Equipment
British Columbia, Canada
A good friend of ours, Stephanie Penequin, has a nuts museum in Corsica; the world’s greatest collection of rock climbing equipment. He is our vertical almanac and, as usual, has helped us identify these three cams as being made by Outland Climbing Equipment in British Columbia, Canada, in 1993.
Kindly donated by Ken Rawlinson, one time director of Phoenix Mountaineering, they are in mint condition, having been used very little, if at all.
They look as if they would work ok; the flexible stems allowing for greater safety in horizontal cracks than some other units, though the smooth cams are a little worrying.
Outland Adventure Gear still exists in 2019, though interestingly, they are now selling Black Diamond cams, not their own.
