Provenance

Looking very much like a 1970’s Clog Rope Ascender, this Kong Cam Clean is a much more modern version which makes us wonder how the patent laws work....maybe Clog didn’t have a patent!
Though in mint condition, the one we have here in the collection is a fairly early version-post 1990- and is configured a little differently from the Clog. In both cases they are/were designed to be used on the chest as a rope climbing system and are much used in the world of industrial rope access.
Formally known as Bonaiti, Kong is an Italian company very active in the mountaineering, caving and industrial rope access world (2019)
Ken Rawlinson, former director of Phoenix Mountaineering, kindly donated this and several other items in 2019.
