Provenance

Based on a Canadian trappers packframe, the Yukon was one of Brown Best’s big successes and as a result has become a much sought after collector’s item 60 years after it ceased to be made. The wooden frame was made from Canadian spruce and steamed beech covered with cotton duck canvas. Folk did question the necessity of the metal rods either side which may well add strength but also weight.
Brown Best were luggage manufacturers in the early days, but captured the ‘A’ frame market before and after the second world war until companies like Karrimor and Berghaus came along in the 1960’s with lighter, frameless sacks serving the death knell on Brown Best.
We bought the Yukon on e-Bay for £40 in 2020.
