Provenance

Other than the information on the label opposite, we don’t know anything about the manufacturer or history of this jacket as we bought it on e-bay.
There are all kinds of clothing related to Ben Nevis including the Ben Nevis Clothing Company but we can’t find any information on the manufacturers of this jacket, EnglishTraditional Leisurewear.
It’s very trendy, fashionable and well made and looks like it’s never been worn. It’s certainly not traditional Ben Nevis clothing though, if such a thing exists.
The heavy duty canvas it’s made from is weighty, not waterproof and would freeze solid in winter. A hood is essential on any mountain - it hasn’t got one. The muckle buckles are heavy and fiddly and the lovely soft leather patches look good but serve no purpose. The little eyelets in the pocket bottoms are handy since the pockets are guaranteed to fill with water otherwise.
A fascinating if not very practical addition to our collection, check out our Orion Jacket for a contrast.
