Provenance

American climber and blacksmith, Yvon Chouinard, started making climbing hardware at his Great Pacific Iron Works in California in 1957. Much of that gear has become legendary and we have many fine examples here in our collection.
We are not quite sure when, but at some point a Chouinard clothing range appeared and we are delighted to have these Chouinard pants in our collection which we reckon date from around 1980. They are in excellent condition and were bought on
e-bay for a few pounds in 2010.
Chouinard equipment ceased to exist in its original form in 1989 when the company filed for bankruptcy to avoid a massive law suit. The hardware side re-emerged as Black Diamond and the much expanded clothing side became Patagonia.
