It’s a bit of a jump from King Arthur’s sword to an ice screw, though if you can thrust a sword into a lump of stone you should be able to screw an ice screw into a lump of ice.
Seems that Excalibur ice screws date from the 1980/90’s and utilise the ratchet system with the hanger - the bit you clip into - working as a spanner to screw in and out.
This one looks very similar to the Lowe RATS ice screws we have elsewhere in the collection, though we don’t know if there is a connection.
Not quite sure where this one came from- one of the many items that seem to appear in a box of stuff. Nice addition to our ever growing collection.
