Primus
Sweden
Primus began life in 1892 when a Swede, Frans Willhelm Lindquist, invented the first pressurised paraffin stove. Things get a wee bit complicated after that as it seems a company called B A Hjorth & Co. were contracted to market and sell Primus stoves in the 1890’s. Hjorth eventually took over Primus and became Bahco. Further wheeling and dealings require a book, though the brand name ‘Primus’ stayed the same and a mind boggling array of paraffin stoves appeared over the decades, one of the later versions of which we have here in the collection.
Versions of the Primus 210 had been around for decades , most bearing a datecode on the tank. From around 1963 the date stamp wasn’t used and the tank shape changed to become more rounded so the example we have here seems to date after1963 and still has its very nice tin.
