Provenance

The Karrimor Bag Company was originally set up in 1946 by Charlie and Mary Parsons to make cycle bags for their Rawtenstall cycle shop.
A decade or two later and Karrimor had become one of the world’s leading rucksack manufacturers, though they didn’t neglect their roots and continued to make cycle bags and panniers alongside their rucksacks.
Not 100% sure how old these panniers are, possibly 1970’s but they do have a wee story to tell as can be seen in the e-mail below from donator Matt Moore.
“I have two gorgeous canvas Karrimor bicycle panniers, marked Karrimor, Accrington, England. Very good condition and clean, apart from superficial mould which I’ve mostly brushed off. I found them in the street in Amsterdam where I live a few days ago”
Matt subsequently posted them to us to make yet another fine addition to our Karrimor collection- thanks Matt!
