Provenance

There’re two Marius Eriksons, Norwegian father and son.
Marius senior was more of a gymnast, having competed for Norway at the 1912 Summer Olympics.
So it looks like the skis we have here in the collection relate to Marius junior who was a skier, fighter pilot and film star……an illustrious career by any standard.
Unfortunately, his fascinating life is beyond our remit but it can be read about in his biography(in Norwegian) and there is also plenty of information on the internet.
We doubt if Eriksons had a factory of their own and suspect they had the skis made and branded or, conversely, one of the Norwegian ski manufacturers made them and paid Erikson for the franchise name since by the 1940’s Erikson was becoming a skiing superstar.
So, Norwegian and dating from around 1940 with curiously a Swiss Bernina binding which has been modified a little, then imported by Lillywhites of London who were the UK’s leading outdoor sports store at the time.
At some point they were acquired by Andrew Leach who kindly donated them to us.
