Provenance

Piccolo means small in Italian...no surprise then that the Swiss ski manufacturer, Amrien and Weber chose Piccolo as their brand name for their children's skis when they started producing them in the 1930's.
It seems they captured the market for a decade or so, as most vintage, children's skis in the mid 1900's tend to be Piccolos of some variety.
The Picco-Jet pair we have here in the collection probable date from the 1950's and were once owned by the MacFarlane family, Spean Bridge, Inverness shire.
They have the small, kandahar style, Piccolo binding attached to very simple wooden skis, each made from a single piece of wood.
We can't find any markings on the poles, so thought we'd call them 'Bambinos'!
PS We are aware that a piccolo is also a small flute but you can't ski on a flute!
