The Scottish Mountain Heritage Collection
SMHC’s constitution allows for items to be loaned to other similar institutions and for items to be sold, providing the proceeds are used to enhance the collection. We see properly regulated loans as a way of bringing the collection to a wider audience and will actively promote these avenues. Items will only be sold with the donator’s permission (if possible) and where, for instance, items are duplicated and are better used as a financial asset. We also have provision in our constitution to dispose of items to like minded institutions and/or museums, specifically the West Highland Museum in Fort William.
The SMHC are happy to put on displays and exhibitions provided proper finances, transportation and security can be arranged. The trustees will consider each application on its individual merit.
