This is a fabulous little 'grouping' of equipment. The piton hammer, etrier and one set of pitons are all home made, though who RTB (the initials on the hammer) was we do not know. The other set of pitons are early Stubai. Etrier are basically a rope and metal ladder used for artificial or aid climbing; they would normally have three rungs so there are enough here for a pair, though they are not 'strung'. This whole set would date around 1950 and apart from the hammer, doesn't seem to have been used much. A lovely example of an era now past.
