Provenance

Founder of the Scottish Mountain Heritage Collection, Mick Tighe, bought this fabulous pair of skis in Bødo , North Norway, for £30 in 2013 and was very happy as a result. Though dating from the 1960's they are in mint condition and still very 'skiable'
Splitkein - literally 'split cane' in Norwegian was established in 1935 by Peter Østby. The Norwegian company was one of the first to produce laminated skis which seem to have been invented by another Norwegian, Jørgen Aaland, and Splitkein refined the art of lamination to produce some of the world's finest skis for several decades until glass fibre and plastic took over in the 1970's. The Gresvig binding comes from another Norwegian company, Gresvig, which produced skis as well as bindings. They still operate in Norway 2013 under the G-Sport and Intersport brands.
