Just about every household had a camp bed or two back in the 1950/60's - they were used as much, if not more, for visiting friends and relatives, than they were for camping and many a cosy night was had on a camp bed in front of the living room fire.
The Military, along with Scout and Guide groups were the main users of camp beds, though plenty were loaded in the back of cars for the family holiday.
We've put these two together in the collection as they have a similar, rather unusual design. Neither seem to have a maker's name so we are not quite sure of the origins. Rucksack Club member, Roger Booth, kindly donated these camp beds along with lots of other goodies in 2013.
