If you know about, or collect old rock climbing gear, it doesn't come much better than this little set which beautifully illustrates an era when climbers were changng from a world of jammed knots, chockstones and engineer's nuts to a new world of mass produced wedges and chocks that would soon consign the old ways to the history books,
Trevor Peck produced his first Crackers in the early 1960's and we suspect this set date from around 1965 since the Troll Wedges, which are threaded on the rope, come from that era too.
Sadly, we don't know who the previous owner was since we bought this set on the Internet, but whoever he/she was, they have kept a little tradition by threading a couple of nuts on the rope, and in one case a washer. One of the perlon rope slings also has three knots in it reflecting the time when knots were jammed in cracks to make an anchor.
A fabulous edition to our Heritage Collection - a moment in time.
