Provenance

An American, Ray Jardine, invented the first spring loaded camming device back in 1976/7 and called it the “Friend”. A welter of pretenders to the throne appeared over the subsequent decades; the rather bizarre Perrin Chock being one of them.
They were invented and patented by Gilbert Perrin, manufactured in the Czech Republic and marketed by the Swiss company, Mammut, in 1990.
We are not sure how successful they were worldwide but very few made their way to the UK so we are happy to have a couple here in our collection.
Thanks to our good friend, Staphanie Pennequin, of the Nuts Museum for the info and another good friend, Jonathon Winter, for the donation.
