We don’t think this wee tent has ever been out if its bag even though it must be at least 20 years old. Waiting for a dry day to put it up but we’ll keep it as a time capsule meanwhile.
Tent maker, James McLlwraith, teamed up with an Alistair Moodie in 1966 to create Vango, which is an anagram of the Glasgow area where the company was based - Govan.
The company became the UK’s leading tent maker particularly with their iconic and extremely popular Force Ten range of tents.
We suspect the tent we have here in the collection dates from the 1990’s when a new wave of lightweight campers were roaming the hills and companies like Vango were catering to their needs.
Still trading in 2020, Vango now call themselves AMG which seems rather silly. We’ve e-mailed to ask them if they have any info on our wee tent and await a reply.
