We’ve put a wee question mark next to the model number of this stove since we are not 100% sure if it’s correct. We can only find one, very similar looking stove on the internet amidst an amazing array of different paraffin stoves produced by Primus of Sweden.
Mountaineers will be more familiar with the smaller type of paraffin stove used for camping whereas the type we have here was more for the domestic market at a time before everyone had electricity and cooking was done on the fire or on a stove like this.
The date stamp AP13 tells us the stove was made in 1951, fitting nicely into the non electric era in the Scottish Islands.
A most interesting Skye crofter, Sandy, kindly gave us this stove in 2022, part of an amazing collection of memorabilia he had in a rambling collection of sheds in Trotternish.
We gave it a polish and a coat of heat resistant paint making it a very fine addition to our eclectic collection of paraffin stoves.
PS We think a couple of diffusers are missing from the burner heads.
Donated by Skye crofter, Sandy ?
