Our good friend and mountain guide, Nick Kekus, kindly donated these boots and here’s what he had to say about them:-
““The boots are second generation ‘OneSport’ (Italian made)
They were a refinement from the original purple boots - heavier but more durable. The yellow boots by contrast had a very lightweight upper gaiter and got damaged very easily, especially by clients! The French company, Millets, bought OneSport a few years ago and the new ‘Millet’ version is a much improved boot.””
Looks as if a guy called Guiliano Grotto was the founder of OneSport. We are not sure about the Millet connection that Nick mentions above since OneSport now seems to be called ‘Fitwell’, an Italian footwear company.
Anyway, Nick has taken his boots up Everest a couple of times along with several other Himalayan giants, but now in his own words:-
“”Passing over these treasured items has been in part cathartic and a clear acknowledgement I’m not to go back to high altitude in a hurry!””
