2019-2020 Chairman's Report

 CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 2019/2020

Another busy year during which the Accession Register shows we received sixty-five donations (calendar year 2019) of various descriptions – a list of these is attached.  Donations take a considerable amount of time to process, archive and photograph, as well as subsequent correspondence with the donators.  Hermione Cooper, our archivist, and Stuart Moralee, photographer, work away continuously – for which I thank them sincerely.

Once again (February 2020) we had a successful display at the Fort William Mountain Festival.  We also have a selection of gear on loan to the National Trust for Scotland, which forms an integral part of a large display in their Glencoe Visitor Centre; this was initially for one year but may well be extended due to the Covid pandemic.

Despite concerns that our computer ‘hosts’ at Hotscot may well have problems with the expiry of support for certain Microsoft packages, our system seems to be working well, so we will continue on an ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ basis.

There is much to do in the year ahead.  We have lots of wee archives to collate and store, diaries to copy, photographs to process and items to accession and store.  Our Trustees are in touch regularly by phone and e-mail, though as I write we are in the midst of the corona virus pandemic, so face to face meeting may be some way off....meanwhile things are ticking over just fine.
